Bli med Prosjekt De Blå Fjella på studietur til Scotland!

19.-22. mars 2012 går turen til Caingorms Nasjonalpark i Scotland! Med nasjonalparken som base skal vi blant annet se nærmere på temaene interpretasjon, lokal mat og drikke i reiselivet, jakt -og fiskeopplevelser i nasjonalpark, lokalt håndverk og naturforvaltning som et reiselivsprodukt.

Som guide på reisen har vi med oss den spennende James Carter! James har jobbet med temaet Interpretasjon, tolking og formidling i årevis. Han har bakgrunn som blant annet lærer, guide på historiske bygninger, naturforvalter, gardbruker og radio reporter. James er en mester på å ta oss gjennom hvorfor formidlingen av informasjon på stedene vi besøker funker eller evt ikke funker. Det legges opp til en del diskusjoner rundt temaet interpretasjon i løpet av turen!

De som trekker påmeldingen etter fristen må dekke utgiften for flybilletten da denne ikke lar seg kansellere pga gruppereise. Man kan evt finne en annen reisende til å ta over billetten.

Pris:

Overnatting, aktiviteter, transport, frokost og middag inkludert. Man ordner selv med lunch på noen av de stedene vi besøker. Prosjektet går inn med noe støtte til deltakere fra målgruppeområdet, dvs. kjernestrekningen og tilfartsveier.

Egenandel for folk i målgruppen til bedriftsnettverket

Målgruppen omfatter de som ønsker å starte opp eller allerede driver en reislivsrelatert bedrift langs NTV Rondane eller tilfartsveiene. Dette er en flott mulighet for dere til å bli bedre kjent med bedriftsnettverket langs turistvegen, knytte kontakter og bli med på videre samarbeid.

Monday 19 March

Arrive at Aberdeen airport

 

Visit to Culloden Battlefield

Culloden was the last stand of the rebellion led by Charles Stuart (‘Bonnie Prince Charlie’) in 1745, as he tried to regain the throne of Scotland for the Catholic Stuart family. The battle was a turning point in Scottish history, with causes and effects that are still controversial today.

Our visit will look at the exciting interpretation of the site. A major new visitor centre tells the story of the battle, with tours of the battlefield using handheld computers and living history demonstrations.

Tuesday 20 March

Cairngorm Brewery, Aviemmore

This is a relatively new business that has already established a good reputation for its beers. The names and character of the beer reflect the landscape and culture of the Cairngorms National Park.

Opportunity for shopping in Aviemore

Aviemore is a popular holiday destination, serving skiers in winter and family holidaymakers in summer. There are many outdoor clothing shops.

 

Rothiemurchus Estate

Rothiemurchus is a large, family owned estate that works hard to cater for and build businesses around services for visitors. They have a clay pigeon shooting range, trout fishing ponds, ancient forest and a well-stocked shop selling local food.

Fishing and hunting in the National Park

We will hear about how fishing and hunting are managed in Scotland, which has very different traditions from Norway. There should also be an opportunity to visit a shop specialising in equipment for fishing and hunting.

 

Wednesday 21 March

Glenlivet Wildlife

Glenlivet Wildlife is a small tour guiding and accommodation business in a remote part of the Cairngorms National Park

David Newland, the owner, will take us on a walk in a local valley that was used by whisky smugglers and show us some of the local wildlife.

 

Craft and whisky shops, Tomintoul

Tomintoul is a small village on the edge of the moorland that covers much of the National Park. There are two craft shops, one run by a couple who do wood and stained glass work as well as selling others people's work. The village also has an excellent whisky shop!

 

Loch Garten

Loch Garten is a small lake surrounded by forest. It was the place that ospreys first bred successfully after the species disappeared from Britain in the 19th century. The birds have become the focus of a popular visitor attraction.
